Accessibility Policy

Last updated: 28/06/2026

Tar.fyi is operated by the Materials Journalism Foundation. We want the site to be readable and usable by as many people as reasonably possible.

Tar.fyi is a standard WordPress-based information website. It is mainly made up of written articles, simple navigation, text links, categories, tags, and ordinary web pages. We aim to keep the site clear, lightweight, and accessible without unnecessary visual clutter or complicated interactive features.

Our aim is to follow good accessibility practice and to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, currently WCAG 2.2, at level AA where reasonably possible. This means we try to make content that is readable, navigable, understandable, and usable with common browsers, devices, keyboards, screen readers, and accessibility tools.

We aim to use clear page titles, readable text, sensible headings where needed, descriptive links, adequate colour contrast, simple navigation, and plain language. Where images are used, we aim to include appropriate alternative text unless the image is purely decorative. We also try to avoid design choices that make content difficult to read, such as low-contrast text, tiny fonts, unnecessary movement, or text embedded in images.

Some accessibility issues may still occur. Tar.fyi uses WordPress, themes, plugins, hosting tools, analytics, and other third-party systems, and these may affect how the site works for some users. Older articles or automatically generated elements may not always meet the same standard as newly reviewed content.

If you have difficulty using tar.fyi, please contact us. We welcome clear reports of accessibility problems and will try to fix reasonable issues as soon as we can.

When contacting us, please include the page URL, a description of the problem, the device and browser you were using, and any assistive technology involved if relevant.

We review accessibility as part of normal site maintenance and will update this policy if the site changes significantly.
